Police Chief Timothy Sulikowski Does Your Mom Hate You?

Here's the story: It's Christmas time. A lady wants to let her children donate money to the Salvation Army kettle. It's cold and snowy out - so she pulls up in a spot 10 yards away, with a direct line of sight to the bell ringers. Her two year old is asleep in the back, so she puts on her flashers, locks the doors, and sets the alarm. Then she walks her kids across the street, puts in the money and walks back.

Next thing, she's sitting in a patrol car being arrested for neglect.

Why? Because a "community (dis)service officer" got in her face and started harassing her for "abandoning" her child. It didn't matter that she could see her child the whole time. Or that she never went in the store. Or that it was cold and snowy. Or that the baby was asleep. All that mattered is that this officer had decided to make a point and the Police chief: Timothy Sulikowski is backing her.

Crestwood Police Chief Timothy Sulikowski declined to comment about the case. But he did not dispute the contention that Coyne parked nearby or was away from her car for just a few minutes.

He did, however, suggest Coyne put her child at risk.

''A minute or two, that's when things can happen,'' he said.

Happen? What exactly is going to happen in an alarmed, locked car? Further if the car did get hit by a truck would it have mattered if the mom was inside or not? No one could get into the car, and the child was safely strapped in the child seat. Go on, tell me - what exactly could happen?

Someone needs to get a fucking grip. You're in Chicago and you're going to prosecute a decent woman who was taking her kids to donate to charity? What's the message to her other children? The police are evil? Or it's wrong to donate to charity?

The 36-year-old suburban mother is preparing to go on trial Thursday on misdemeanor charges of child endangerment and obstructing a peace officer. If convicted, she could be sentenced to a year in jail and fined $2,500, even though child welfare workers found no credible evidence of abuse or neglect.

Hey Timmy! Did your mom drop you as a baby or something? Because if she didn't she sure should have...

Timothy Sulikowski if you read this,I'm telling you you are a moron and a fascist. Any reasonable person as oppososed to the FI's that work for you, might stop to ascertain the child was OK, the mother was within sight, and everything was fine. Instead, the Officer goes into her "I'm a police officer" routine, blows the whole thing out of proportion an then YOU support her. EVERY aspect of your argument ringsfalse, but hey, your a COP and can't ever be wrong, can you? Why don't you move to North Korea where you can be a fascist for real? You have no business being in a place of authority in this country. YOU ARE WHY PEOPLE HATE COPS, ASSHOLE

Aren't there any REAL criminals in Crestwood? If there were, the police wouldn't have time to prosecute people for crimes in their own minds. Get a grip Timothy Sulikowski, if this is the most dangerous person you can find, perhaps it is time to cut back on your police force!

All I can say is this is a complete
outrage. And I pray this lady will be
exonerated. It's sickening that the
police ALWAYS have to abuse their power.
Truth be told, the cop who harrassed her
probably doesn't have children and
wouldn't understand anyway. And if she
does, I'm QUITE sure she's done the same
thing! Maybe the authorities in IL
should try looking for the real
abuser. This poor lady, my thoughts and
prayers are with you. My heart aches
for you and your family. The police
don't understand or care how being
wrongly accused can ruin your life. No
wonder people have no respect for the
authorities. Abuse of power is all it
is!

for whatever reason you all are not looking a the legality of the situation. In the Illinois Compliled state statute even leaving ur child alone in a car for more than 1 second by law is all it takes. The chief of police does have a valid point even leaving someone a second to go into that car is all it might take it is when things happen.

What if someone was able to smash the window and get in? what if the mother didnt notice this taking place, some things that werent metioned was that the car had no alarm. Also the mother had brought along the keyless entry remote, locked the car with the key still left in the ignition (at leas that what was stated by there department). it would have taken someone all of 5 seconds to steal that car. So what if that happend would she now be called an unfit mother? would u blame the crestwood community service officer or the police officer for not doing there job? Leaving a child alone in the car by itself should not be done regardless of the reason, regardless of her good intentions.

Heh... a few months late there Shawn old boy. First off I take it you're not a parent. If you were you'd under stand that having 3 kids to manage is difficult under the best circumstances. Further more the baby was *sleeping*. You don't wake a sleeping baby for no reason.

Second, you didn't read the article. Here let me help you a little "It didn't matter that she could see her child the whole time. Or that she never went in the store. Or that it was cold and snowy." Check that again - she could SEE the car from where she was the whole time.

Finally, the law has weighed in and dismissed charges against the mom. Everyone knew it was bullshit, and clearly you would too - that is if you had more of a life than to be looking up old posts...
