Data won't just be lost, it will be expunged. It will cease to exist, as well as any records of the records.

I'd put money on the fact that the "missing emails" from the RNC accounts in the case of the fired US attourneys is just a drop in the bucket. Given that Cheney has refused to cooperate with any rules or regulations regarding data management and information oversight it's totally predictable that he will do his damndest to ensure that any records of what went on within his offices is destroyed.
