You're no Abe Lincoln

Bush likened himself to the venerable forefather the other day, claiming how he is just "misunderstood". Hardly. Stupid? Stuck-up? Pig headed? Indifferent? Arrogant? No, not any one of those, all of those and more. I hardly think anyone is going to be building a memorial to you, seriously.

He's pissed of course, because he has the complete inability to admit he made a bad decisions based on bad data and still intends to prove everyone wrong by trying to make it right. Well son, you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. There's a reason they invented that saying.

So the bullshit is flying thick and fast. Penned in by a slow but steady attrition of senior advisors and friends who are headed to the witness stand to defend semi or non-even legal activities based on abuse of power in the name of their administration. The president is snapping angrily at every attempt to reconcile with the American public and their elected officials.

"Instead of fashioning a bill I could sign, the Democratic leaders chose to further delay funding our troops, and they chose to make a political statement."

Read instead: Instead of kissing my ass when I bend over like congress has in the past, these people have the outrageous intent of demonstrating their own mind. Don't they know that I'm in charge, and I'll do what I like no matter how many lives it takes?

The whole pathetic argument over the establishment of a deadline for withdrawal is hilarious. According to their "logic" if you tell someone when you're going to leave... well they're going to know you're going to leave. So? We're not staying there forever, are we? Are we? What do you think you can magically remove the entire American presence overnight in a "Surprise! We're gone - please make up the room now" kinda way? Dumbass, no matter when it is, they're going to know.

Is it defeatist to call a spade a spade an cut your losses or is it realistic?

As for Cheney. Dude, do you think anyone cares about you any more and what you say? Like Mr. Reid said: "I'm not going to get into a name-calling match with somebody who has a 9 percent approval rating."

Typical left-wing anti-Bush post with no alternative ideas, no insight, no suggestions, no effort to understand all the facts surrounding this situation.. just pure hatred towards this administration which is blinding common sense.

This post reads like the storyboard of the left wing mainstream media pundits, the doomsday soothsayers, and the uninformed hollyweird playbook all rolled into one big 'talking points' script with nothing new to add.

Lets just pull out! Who cares what happens to the women and children who are blown up daily. I thought the left-wingers were supposed to be the party of compassion?

What happens when we pull out one day? Would the bad guys quit bombing their own people? I mean, hell, anymore they don't just target the military forces, they just blow up their own men, women and children randomly. So you're telling me that its so simple that this will all stop when we leave? Ok.. then lets leave now.

When we leave will the bad guys continue to allow people to vote for whom they want? They wont attempt to overthrow the government anymore? Ok.. lets just leave now.

When we leave will the mean guys start playing nicely with everyone?

When we leave the networks of terrorists will disband and everyone will pray to Allah under one Sun?

When we leave the grey clouds will lift over the entire region?

When we leave the economy of Iraq will continue to grow? The schools will continue to be built? City and Provincial governments will continue to flourish with open and free elections? Wow.. why haven't we left yet!?!

Maybe you think we should just pull out now and say a big FU to all of them. Perhaps you've even thought of saying 'who cares about them, we just want out to protect our soldiers'.

Find me a politician, just one, who has gone on record and laid out a good plan for getting out of Iraq cleanly with a deadline. I've looked. I can't find any - and I look at ALL media outlets, not just the ones that pander to my beliefs and tell me what I want to hear. I keep an open mind and have even looked across the aisle with no success. I dont care if its a democrat, a republican or an independent. I just want a solid factual well thought out solution... which to this date, nobody has come up with.

Keep an open mind. Reduce your hatred of this administration long enough to look around and get all the facts. There is no "easy" button to use.

What happens to the people in Iraq? Well, they keep killing each other. Same as they are now. The difference is that they won't keep killing our soldiers too, and we'll stop wasting our money and destroying our military.

The Iraqi people are screwed either way. Our presence isn't making them safer. If anything, it's attracting foreign terrorists that make everyone less safe. If you really cared about the Iraqi people, you'd be mad as hell about the way the war is going. But you don't care; you're just using them as an excuse. This war was never about the Iraqi people.

See? Perfect example above. You've no compassion for the killing.

Did you ever see the pictures of the bloated dead children laying in the streets from a few years back? Hrm? Did that not bother you in the slightest?

Does it not bother you that the Iraqi regime was slaughtering thousands every year?

Should we quit giving money to Africa too since, by your definition, they're going to continue dying anyhow?

Should we completely forget about Somalia and Darfur where more than 6x more have been slaughtered than all the Jews in the holocaust since they're already or going to be killing each other anyhow?

Where's your compassion that your party claims to have?

Oh right like you care so much. Write a rant about Darfur then. Or maybe Somalia.

Poser.

Sounds like some brilliant logic to me. Sure, the current strategy, if there is one, isn't working at all, and the public hasn't seen a better solution to the situation, so lets just keep letting our people die and keep funneling money we don't have into that effort, which was obviously a big fucking mistake in the first place. And don't give me the high moral bs that Saddam needed to go cause he was a cruel bastard. There are plenty of other ruthless dictators out there we don't do dick about.

Fact is we can't afford to run Iraq, our soldiers are dieing consantly, terrorists are there because we are, and unless you split the country up by ethnic areas, there is no fucking way a democracy is going to work there anytime in the near future.

You accuse others of being short sided but you sound identical to all the conversative bullshit being thrown around that says we have to stay there and maintain the status quo of getting our people killed for no apparent reason for abstract 'high ground' reasons.

I agree that we should get the hell out of there and say FU to the whole situation. Its not like the US can have a worse reputation now than it already has.

We have plenty of problems in our own country to address. Perhaps we should solve our own problems before getting in everyone's business with no possible way to fix or solve them.

It's not our country to run. It's theirs. It has been for a while now.

Bman, not everyone that thinks we should get hell out of Iraq is of a particular party, that I presume you mean is the Democratic party. I consider myself an "old school" Republican, meaning before Evangelical Christians infected the Republican party like a plaque of locust.

Fact is - There will be people killing each other in Iraq whether we are trying to oversee matter there or not. Iraq is the Iraqi peoples' responsiblity to run, although they have obviously demonstrated their inability to solve or even come up with a solution to their own problems.

No matter how much sympathy I may have for the "women and children" the USA and its allies can not and should not try to fix all the worlds problems. There is quite frankly little we can do about it - and we have our own problems to attend to.

Even when we try to help people, rather than appreciate the help, they resent us. We do more for the world than any other country - sending medications, supplies, food, even doctors and technical people. Many civilians and military go to hellholes where they may be hacked to pieces with a machete or blown to bits for their troubles.

Personally I think it would make a bad situation worse for us to just up and leave. In the state they are in now, with no military strongman running things what's to stop Iran from steamrolling the country?

Of course we have no business staying there forever and the whole thing is a cluster-f*** but my question is this:

Aren't there any Muslim states in the area with enough compassion to lend a hand without trying to subvert the country to terrorists? I mean compared to the predominantly Judeo-Christian western nations isn't there more of a sense of brotherhood among them?

You want descriptions? Get a dictionary. Better go waste time reading the news or play some games on Yahoo or MSN or some shit like that.
