A little bit of Nigeria here at home

There are times when the good of the many should mean the fucking bitch slapping of the few. When a small percentage refuses to accept that their actions can have massively negative consequences for the rest of humanity then they need to be either forced to obey or just eliminated. Harsh? Not when you're talking about a child contracting Polio.

Nigeria has been in the news about how their certifiably insane, religious leaders told their ignorant populace that the Polio vaccine was an American plot. Something improbable about how it would sterilize their kids or whatever. Of course the result was devastating. Polio enjoyed a resurgence, infecting not just children in Nigeria but in a host of other countries - countries that had previously eradicated it. I would advocating invading and killing the religious leaders in charge of Nigeria to prevent the recurrence of such stupidity for the health of all children to come but it's pretty damn hard when we have the same evidence of criminal stupidity here at home.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Four children in an Amish community in Minnesota have contracted the polio virus -- the first known infections in the U.S. in five years, state health officials said Thursday.

Dr. Harry Hull, the state epidemiologist, said the cases do not pose a threat to the general public because most people have been vaccinated against polio and are unlikely to have contact with Amish people. But he said he expects to find more infections within the Amish community because some of its members refuse immunizations on religious grounds.

And suddenly the risk isn't across the ocean - it's here at home. Pretty fucking hard to look down at some "third world" foreign country for being ass-backward when we have the exact same thing happening here. IMO if you live in the US you should be -mandated- to immunize your children, regardless of your fucking religious bullshit attitude. It's not your "right" to make your child a fucking germ target. And if they refuse? Well, I'm sure there's room in Nigeria for a few extra retards.

There were people that avoided vacines for other reasons - like getting the disease they were trying to prevent. Of course the medical community finally got its head out of its ass and stopped giving people polio. Granted the cases tended to be mild - but trust me it still ain't a walk in the park.

You want descriptions? Get a dictionary. Better go waste time reading the news or play some games on Yahoo or MSN or some shit like that.
