Shame On Macy's!

So much for Macy's employees being able to enjoy a nice Thanksgiving dinner with their families...
NEW YORK (AP) -- Macy's Inc. says that it will open most of its stores for the first time on Thanksgiving, breaking a long-standing tradition for the venerable retailer. In a release issued late Monday, the Cincinnati-based chain says it will open its doors at 8 p.m. on that day.
It's sad, especially so for Macy's employees because Thanksgiving is the same day as the Macy's parade, an annual tribute to just being American. Now instead of kicking back and feasting with family, employees are going to have to shove down their meal (if they can even get one in time) and then run off to work in time to be swarmed by sales-frenzied mobs. Yay. The one truly American holiday is now lost to the pagan church of corporate greed. In a way I can't blame Macy's, they're clearly being forced into "keeping up with the Walmarts" who outwardly acknowledge a complete disregard for their employees well being. Little by little we're all being draw in by companies whose owners can afford the time off but wouldn't think of providing the same to their workers, the same owners who can spend a few tens of thousands to buy "business friendly" politicians. The divide between the "haves" and "have nots" gets ever wider. The pathetic thing is that most people don't even know they're being played. Did you really need to go buy that item for a few dollars less? After all, you can't buy back the time you don't spend with your family.
