Excuse me jackass, I'm trying to play tennis here!

People's stupidity never ceases to amaze me. Pardon my language, but dumb fucking people and their dumb kids should stay the hell away from me. 300 yards would be preferable. I live in an apartment complex and there is a tennis court adjacent to my building. My friend has been bugging me forever to actually utilize this amenity and play tennis with her, so I finally decided to do it.

We went outside around 7 pm and started to 'play' tennis, if you can call it that. I've played once in my life...when I was about 10 and I sucked then. I have gotten better, but the US Open is not in my future.

So anyway, about 20 minutes into our 'game' this little girl and her father who live downstairs from me came outside. She had her little pink bike and she started riding it. I'm not a fan of children overall, but she's an adorable little thing. To my amazement and sheer irritation, she and her father head right for the tennis court...yes, that's right. They come into the court where my friend and I are hitting balls in just about every direction. Now common sense to me, you and pretty much anyone with half a brain would say "hmm, maybe I shouldn't let my kid RIDE HER BIKE AROUND THE TENNIS COURT WHILE PEOPLE ARE PLAYING." Call me crazy, but that seems like rational thought to me.

About 5 minutes after she comes out, then another little girl comes out on her bike and they start to ride together. The second little girl's brother sits on the outside while she comes in and rides with the first girl. Oh, where's daddy during all this? On his cell phone at the opposite end of the court, not even remotely paying attention. He never noticed when not 1 but 2 of my errant balls whizzed by his daughter's head (I wasn't trying to hit her, I swear...but if it happened, not my fault. It's a tennis court afterall, not a fucking bike path.)

So now I've got two little girls riding their cute little bikes around the tennis court (by this time they stayed on the otherside of the court, but still in harms way.) I'm so irritated by this. I mean, not only is it rude and irresponsible, but now I feel obliged to watch out for your kid so that she doesn't get hurt, thus ruining my fun. What a jackass. They eventually leave after about a half hour (by that time I had stopped caring where my balls landed...again, tennis court, not bike path.) The family had to go to the grocery store or something and the other little girl went in too.

Overall, I discovered I have a badass back-hand and that I need to remember this is tennis not softball (I sent one over the fence into the pond, never to be seen again.) It's a great workout, I'm sore as hell, but it was fun. I think we'll do it again and hopefully dumbass people and their stupid kids will stay out of my way. Otherwise, I'm not responsible for where those balls land or how hard they happen to hit their (un)intended target.

I'd have aimed one at her and said 'Ooops, I'm so sorry! It was an accident'. But my girlfriend continuously claims I'm evil.

Personally, I would consider it part of my 'Teaching Parents to be Responsible' Tour 2006™. Teach them a lesson so that they can step back, re-evaluate parental duties, and possibly teach their child to be a useful member of society rather than a burden to the rest of us. Girlfriend also says I have no soul or compassion.

Also... don't worry about your fucking language. I never do!

Aim for the dumbass parent next time if he's in the court, no need to take it out on the daughter who isn't to blame for this. A few balls sailing by cell phone dad should point out the issue ;)

Teach the child the valuable lesson of helmet safety.

Or you could just bitch to the apt complex management. I'm sure they wouldn't want their courts torn up by bicycles or even pay for the coverage if something should happen to someone who wasn't using the court properly.

I thoroughly endorse all opinions stated above and embrace them as if they were my own.

Most especially the one about beaning the parent.

Lol, I forgot I apologized for my language. I copied it from my other online blog. I guess I was just trying to be a lady. :P

I like all of the suggestions. Both the parent and the kid were responsible becuase when they came out, she made a bee-line for the court even though she saw us there...and he didn't stop her. Fucking idiots, all of them.
