Fear sells.. look at gasoline prices

Well it finally happened. $4.00/gal for regular fuel here in Columbus. Everyone is pointing fingers at everyone else. The refiners are pointing fingers at the government because of strict regulations which include 18 different blends of gasoline from the west to east coasts, the ultra low sulfur requirements on diesel, which costs a buttload more to produce and is only 1.5% cleaner than the regular diesel, the super strict EPA standards which prevent new refineries from being built, and on and on and on.

Just think, all this is due to the hobglobbin the green-necks refer to as 'global warming'. I for one will be glad when the world goes into the cooling cycle of its normal ebb and flow heatup/cooldown every 1000yrs or so soon. Hopefully we can get all the greeners up on a stage and throw pie in their faces for scaring the hell out of everyone and demand a load of money back from them all. They're ruining industry, causing famine and riots over food, and robbing our wallets... all on the premise that something dark and ominous is just over the horizon. Maybe Jesus will return about the same time.

People will look back 100yrs from now and reflect upon what these fucking idiots have done to our society. They will relate to the global warming scare of the early 2000 years just as we reflect back on the scare of little green men on Mars in the 1950's or the famous War of the Worlds radio broadcast.

I have a simple scale for who's actually responsible: the people who make the most money.

It's one thing to be subject to rules/regulations/costs that drive up your own - but any motherfucker making record profits while everyone else is groaning under the price is suspect in my book...

I agree with you. I cant find anywhere where those bastards list how many gallons of fuel were sold to make that 5 billion quarterly profit.

If we break down a barrel of oil we have lots of other products and chemicals that are produced from the refining process so its not just gasoline and diesel being sold. That being said, the numbers that I could find were that gasoline and diesel make up 75% of the final refined product from ONE barrel of oil.

So if a refiner made a 5 billion quarterly profit we know that 3.75 billion (roughly) came from fuel sales. 3.75 billion on WHAT kind of margin? 40 cents a gallon? 1.00 a gallon? Those are numbers I want and the only way to get them is to see how many gallons that 3.75 billion represents. I dont know if they publish those anywhere.

I've heard rumor that they only make about 50 cents per gallon.. so in our scenario then they sold 7.5 billion gallons. Does that even seem realistic? Wow. staggering amount.

Low sulfur fuel has little to do with global warming. And, unless you have seen the effects of acid rain, don't complain too much about low sulfur fuel.

As far as biofuels are concerned, I agree that the large scale scope is idiotic. The only time biofuels are beneficial is when they are being created by surplus feed stock, not supplies specifically grown for that purpose (unless it is a high yield crop like hemp). Hate that on top of that, with grain prices going through the roof, the farmer is still getting the shaft and not seeing much of a profit.
