Red means stop!

Today I saw someone come off the highway, approach an intersection, and quickly make a sharp left turn. The light was red. When the light is red, you're supposed to stop. Also, right next to the red light, there was a "No left turn" sign. You also aren't supposed to make a left turn when there's a sign like that. So I count 2 distinct reasons not to make a left turn. The driver ignored both of them; he didn't even slow down.

For a while, I didn't believe that Massachusetts drivers were worse than those from other states. But it's getting harder to deny it.

It's a special state. I never believed some of the crap that goes on here until I witnessed it myself.

One time I was in a car with a friend and she wasn't buying all the angst I was dishing about the drivers in the state - until she saw someone drive the wrong way down a one way street AND pass a cop car in the opposite direction that did nothing to stop them. She was aghast.

The whole - I can ignore the red light because I'm more important than everyone else is pretty fucking common. People will not only run reds in this area, they'll blatantly block the intersection so that when the light turns green for a different entry they're outright blocked. I've even seen people driving on blocked out areas to get around everyone waiting in line and then just cut in at the front.

It's not just Mass tho, it's New England in general. You don't see this crap south of Rhode Island.

I remember an instance in Mass: A jackass cut me off by turning right at a red light without stopping (yes I had green, stale green even). Then at the next intersection, screached to a stop in the middle of the road (we had no signs, not even a yield) to let someone out at a stop sign.

I had a friend once tell me the difference between Boston drivers and New York City drivers is in Boston they make it feel personal. Think that sums it up.
