Saturday, I'm playing a computer RPG. (Specifically, "Sacred".) I can't figure out what I'm supposed to do next, so I go and check Gamefaqs. Turns out that I'm supposed to ask the NPC sorceress for advice, and she'll give me the next quest. Okay, fine, except for one problem. The sorceress joined my party a while ago to help out, and she was killed in a fight. Which means that it's impossible to get the next quest, and thus impossible to finish the game that I've devoted way too much time to over the last few weeks.
The thing is, the game doesn't warn you when the character dies. Most games would say "The sorceress is dead; you lose." Or, better yet, they wouldn't let the character die at all if she's important to the plot. But because the game let her die without complaining, I didn't think she mattered, I didn't reload as soon as she died. So now I have to start all over again at the beginning because of this stupid design flaw. Better yet, I won't start again; I'll just play something better.
